Artificial Futures is in the great position of already having more work than we know what to do with. And while I intend to start ramping up hiring soon, I also intend to grow somewhat organically and not let the company get ahead of itself. In the meantime, I need to be able to fill projects with awesome humans. Fortunately, I have the greatest friend network anyone could ever ask for… of people who are both awesome to work with, but also total badasses at what they do. I’m writing to see if you want to join the AF Collective.
Here’s how it works: I’m creating a database of people and the type of work they’re interested in doing. Not simply the type of work you’re good at… but stuff you actually WANT to do. Projects are more fun when people work on stuff that they like. If you fill in this form, you’ll be in the database for potential freelance contracting under AF and I’ll reach out when opportunities arise that align with your interests.
If you fill this out expect me to follow up about:
- Subcontracting opportunities when they align with you
- Asking if you want an AF role and to be featured on the website (optional)
- Internal passion projects. These will largely be unpaid but I’m always looking for collaborators on cool shit
- Interest in writing articles or SciFi shorts for the AF website
- Periodically hosting events with cool people that you should definitely join
AF is shaping up to be a weird company and I love it that way. I want to buck a lot of corporate dogmas and try something different. I’m slowly figuring out the culture of the org, but I’m trying to instill values like Curiosity, Play, Humanity, and Transparency into everything we do. To the last point, if you do get asked to join a project, I’m working towards full transparency with everyone I work with on finances and how you get paid. AF needs to make money, but I want to make sure The Collective is well taken care of and understands how and why revenue is chopped up.
As always, if anything sounds (unexpectedly) weird or you have questions, hit me up (shane@artificialfutures.com).
Resistance is futile…
